When the rumor that the world was ending sprang up in 2012, many conspiracy theories were formed. There were several different viewpoints surrounding this rumor including that the U.S. government had been keeping secrets about their knowledge of planet X, the Mayans had advanced scientific knowledge and were skilled astronomers which led them to correctly predict the end of the world, and David Meade, a religious scholar, predicted The Rapture through the book of Revelation in the Bible. Although each of these theories is supported by some evidence, there isn’t nearly enough evidence to back up any of these claims and therefore they don’t confirm the end of the world in any way. It may have felt like all the evidence pointed to a doomsday in 2012 but as we know now, any conspiracies saying the world was coming to an end were false.
